Great teachers. Small classes. Supportive community. West Coast lifestyle. There are so many reasons to choose CapU – here are just a few.

A focus on teaching

At a teaching institution like CapU, instructors are here for their students. They take the time to figure out your learning style. And they’ll learn your name, not just your student number.

Smaller classes

Large lecture halls don’t exist at CapU. Our classes have 25 students on average, so our instructors can give individualized support and attention to every student in a class.

We strive to create the best learning environment possible, where teachers can recognize your individual needs, strengths and talents.

Quality education

CapU is a public university. We’re fully accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), a U.S.-based accrediting body.

The University is also recognized by British Columbia’s Education Quality Assurance [EQA] designation, which is Canada’s first and only provincial brand of quality for post-secondary education.

This means that CapU credentials are recognized around the world, whether you’re interested in pursuing graduate studies or planning to work in Canada – or abroad.

A range of programs

We offer courses you’d expect to find at any university, plus many that are unique.

Alongside traditional offerings – such as philosophy, English and physics – you’ll find uncommon gems like outdoor recreation management, jazz studies, and motion picture arts.

This varied mix of programs gives you an exceptional choice of study and career paths. Explore our areas of study to find something that genuinely interests you.

Real-world connections

Our instructors do more than simply teach. They’re guides who can help you take your first steps into the work world. They have outstanding credentials in fields from business and music to applied behaviour analysis and tourism. And they have real-world connections forged from years of working in their industry.

As a CapU student, you can gain valuable practical experience yourself – through group work, case studies and competitions. Many programs include work-integrated learning opportunities in the form of a co-op or practicum. And there are opportunities to volunteer or serve the community in other ways. These experiences all give you insight into the world of work and help you start to build your own real-world connections.

Lower costs

A university education is a big investment. Tuition, books, supplies . . . they can add up quickly. At CapU, you’ll get a quality education for significantly less than you’d spend at many other universities.

Supportive community

Whether you know exactly where you’re headed or are still exploring your options, you’ll find everything you need to be successful at CapU.

Our student success team is committed to your success, to your well-being and to helping you achieve your personal and professional goals. From the moment you arrive on campus, we’ll be there to help you every step of the way.

A range of study options

CapU gives you a wide range of study options. You can complete two years of academic studies and then transfer to another university – or stay with us for a full four years and earn an applied degree.

If you want to begin your career sooner, our certificate and diploma programs are an ideal way to get started.

And don’t forget about our Continuing Education division, which offers a full mix of courses for career and personal development.

International opportunities

In a world of increasing globalization, it makes sense to gain international experience while you study. That’s why CapU has partnerships with educational institutions around the world.

We offer many opportunities to Study Abroad through semester-long international exchanges and short-term field schools across 18 countries.

There are 73 countries represented at CapU. Each year, we welcome more than 1,900 international students, creating a vibrant, culturally diverse campus.
